Concept Art & Language Contest in Chicago

The annual Concept Art & Language Contest was held on Saturday, April 1 at the Copernicus Center  in Chicago.
The performers in the singing and folk dances categories were very competitive this year.
The judges had a hard time deciding the top three winners.

ENGLISH SONGS
Winner:  My`Jia Brown / Lorain (Stay).
Runner up: Kemy Oyedokun / CMSA (Imagine)
3rd place winner: title shared by two contestants

  • Patrick Webster / Cleveland High (That`s what friends are for)
TURKISH SONGS
Winner: Iyanna Foster / Columbus High (Masum degiliz)
Runner up: Kemy Oyedokun / CMSA (Sil bastan)
3rd place winner: title shared by two contestants
  • Brianna Nixon / Columbus High (Firuze)
  • Geraldine Benitez / Chicago HSA McKinley (Sil bastan)
SPANISH SONGS
Winner: Adela Mesas / Lorain (Promesa)
 
Although invited to the final contest for Spanish songs, Essynce Mitchell from Cleveland High and Martha Cibasu from Columbus High opted out of the contest and decided not to come to Chicago.
 
TURKIC FOLK DANCES
Winner:  Chicago HSA McKinley (Shemmameh)
Runner up: Columbus High (mixture of North Eastern dances)
3rd place winner: IMSA North (Halkali Seker)
 
HISPANIC FOLK DANCES
Winner: Chicago HSA McKinley (Dance of State of Coahulia)
Runner up: Toledo (Ecuadorian Dance of Sun)
3rd place winner: Detroit MMSA (Oriental Flamenco )
